What we provide

DAGCAS volunteers and staff will:

  • helps you, your family and carer(s) identify any welfare benefits you are entitled to claim
  • provide practical assistance to apply for these benefits
  • help you identify and apply for any additional grant funding
  • refer you to specialist staff, who can help you appeal benefit decisions and provide representation at First & Upper Tribunals
  • assist you with any other problems you may have eg. debt, housing, employment, ect.

We Offer:

  • Assistance with benefit appeals

Our service is:

  • Free
  • Confidential
  • Impartial
  • Independent

We also provide:

  • Training in welfare benefits for volunteers and staff
  • Informal talks to local support agencies, health practitioners, groups and clubs to raise awareness of the complete range of advice available from CAB


This service is for:

  • people affected by long term conditions/illness/disability
  • people of all ages
  • anyone not claiming their full welfare benefit entitlement
  • individuals/families affected by terminal illness

A personal adviser will guide and support you throughout the complete process – from initial inquiry through to representation at a tribunal (if necessary)


We will:

  • Take referrals from any agency, or you can self refer for advice any assistance
  • Contact you by phone to do an initial assessment
  • Offer you a follow-up appointment in one of our bureaux or clinics
  • Offer home-visits to anyone unable to get to a bureau or clinic
